Impala RFC successfully retained the Kabeberi 7s title with a 22 - 5 win over an impressive Menengai Oilers in the cup final at the RFUEA Grounds on Sunday 10th September, 2017.
Impala, who had beaten KCB and Kabras Sugar in the quarter and semi-finals, to book a place in the final, got off to a flying start, with a Paul Mutsami try at the corner.
Further tries from Mark Kwemoi and Mutsami saw Impala taking a 17 - 0 lead into the breather. Ian Minjire intercepted and raced all of 75 meters to add Impala’s fourth try of the match early in the second half to put the game beyond the young Menengai Oilers side.
A consolation try from the Man of the Tournament, Haroun Anduvati, at the death saw the Oilers end a promising campaign with a heartbreaking loss.
There were also wins for Strathmore Leos, KCB and Nakuru RFC who secured the bronze, 5th place and the challenge trophy categories.
Off the pitch, official beverage partner, Tusker Lager, kept fans entertained during the two days of the competition with an after-party at the close of day one hosted by DJ Kym NickDee and WDJ.
The Rugby na Tusker Sevens Caravan moves to Nakuru on the 23rd and 24th of September for the Prinsloo Sevens.
