Kenyan References in Black Panther

There's no denying that Black Panther is an epic movie. What makes it even more spectacular for Kenyans, is that our very own, Lupita Nyong'o, stars in it. But that's not all there is to be excited about when watching Black Panther.

Here are the almost exclusively Kenyan references you might have missed.

1: The Maasai Touch

The attire worn by the Dora Milaje, the all-female Wakandan army, is inspired by the Maasai shuka and adornments.

2: Warrior Women

Did you know that there is an all-woman village in Northern Kenya? Also, we have Wangu wa Makeri and Mekatilili wa Menza to add to the list of Kenyan warrior women Okoye or Nakia would represent.

What else did you spot?
